Modding Diary – Pop Balloon Alone Animation

Hi Guys! I hope you all are doing well!

This week I worked on an animation that allows sims to pop the balloon without a partner. I think this could be useful in situations where the partner isn’t in the picture, or when your sim is having multiple babies and you dont want to watch the same animation more than once.

Before I get into the animation, I want to let you know that I changed how sims gather around the balloon. Some of you might remember last week I was having issues where sims were paying attention to the balloon popping, I sort of found a way around that:

I added a “Gather” interaction that attracts all sims within a 30(meter?) radius, so before you pop the balloon you could use this interaction to bring everyone over

now sims will actually stand around and wait instead of talking to each other, I plan on adding the same animation to the cake cutting gender reveal

and here is the animation for popping the balloon alone

the pregnant sim will look over while holding their belly

and she pops the balloon, everyone reacts to the gender reveal

Im probably gonna switch the reaction to just confetti throwing, I dont really understand what the spinning thing is supposed to be

and that is the whole animation.

while testing the couple’s balloon popping interaction I did encounter a problem where the sims would target different balloons if there were more than one on the lot, it doesn’t happen every time, but I need to figure out what is triggering it, so ya, fun stuff 🥲

Next week I will make a small modification to the couple’s balloon popping animation, then  I will either make more decor objects or get started on the cake cutting gender reveal interaction. I am very excited!
